SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is used to validate whether an email message was sent by a certified server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the faking of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies whether it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it does not come from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody will mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This approach is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared website hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you're able to see which domain names are already secured. For those which aren't, you will be able to activate the SPF protection service and manage a lot of things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, and you can use it when we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domain names and do not use a different e-mail provider. The newly generated records will propagate within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with all our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, offers you an exceptionally intuitive interface to enable the SPF security service for any domain name that you host inside your new account. Just a few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you will only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be allowed to send messages from your e-mails. In case the e-mail messages are handled by us and not by another supplier, you will be able to increase the security level even more and take advantage of an option for all of the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. This option gives you better control and it'll eliminate any chance of somebody faking your e-mail addresses with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable if only your website is hosted on our innovative cloud website hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by some other service provider. If you are not sure what features to pick, our tech support team will assist you 24/7.
