A subdomain is a web address, which is under a main, or a root domain name. An illustration is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. apart from using the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be fully independent and also hosted by a separate provider. Using a subdomain could be very beneficial if you'd like to have different web sites that are associated in some way. For example, you could have an online store under the main domain plus a forum under a subdomain in order to provide means for your clients to ask questions and share opinions regarding your products. The advantage of using a subdomain rather than a subfolder is that the sites will be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.

Subdomains in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting plans will allow you to create countless subdomains for any domain hosted within your account without any problem. Assuming that the main domain name is added, it requires two clicks to set up a subdomain and select what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the total amount of subdomains that you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Through our semi-dedicated server plans, you will be able to create an unrestricted number of subdomains for any one of the domains which you add as hosted in the account. It's going to take a few clicks to create a new subdomain and throughout the process you're going to be able to to add tailor-made error pages for it, select if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP address, change the default folder that it will access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you've got within the account are going to be grouped under their root domain in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to see and handle all of them without difficulty. Using instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll be able to jump to the website files within the File Manager area or see logs, visitor statistics and other info about any of your subdomains.
